The illicit trafficking of cultural property is frequently referred to by the media as the third largest global traffic, just after those of drugs and weapons. This ranking remains uncertain, however, due to the difficulty of obtaining precise figures. Interpol notably laments in this regard a clear deficit in the reporting of information from the concerned actors.
