Marseille was rejected for sanitary and tragic reasons

Marseille was set aside in 1883 to host a military health school in favor of Lyon. This choice was motivated by the economic consequences of the Prado arena disaster and the cholera epidemics of 1884 and 1885. The city thus had to wait until the year 1900 to apply again for a specific school.
