The Pink Floyd seagull is a pedal accident

The shrill guitar noise evoking a seagull in the song Echoes was born from a handling error. David Gilmour created this singular sound by plugging a wah-wah pedal backwards during the recording sessions. Drummer Nick Mason confirmed that this discovery was pure chance, encouraged by the experimental methods of Ron Geesin.
