The destruction of Ebla is explained by a Hittite myth

The Hurro-Hittite myth of the Song of Release recounted that the city of Ebla had been destroyed by the god Teshub. This divine punishment occurred because the city had refused to release a dominated people despite the god's injunction. Found at Hattusa, this bilingual narrative presents a city then governed by a king and a sort of senate.
