The giant ramparts of the ancient city of Ebla

Ebla was protected by a monumental outer enclosure resting on an immense embankment of earth and ruin stones. The base of its walls reached approximately 40 meters in width for a maximum height of 22 meters. This colossal defense system also included several fortified gates and small forts distributed all around the city.
