The Saint Louis Eagles are a former hockey team that folded after a single season in the NHL. Long train trips from Missouri exhausted the players and drained the club's finances. On October 15, 1935, the league eventually bought back the franchise rights for the sum of $40,000 in order to recover the contracts.
