The blood and gold colors of Racing Club de Lens come from Spain

Racing Club de Lens has worn red and yellow striped jerseys since 1924. This choice was developed by president Pierre Moglia in direct reference to the Spanish occupation of Artois in the 16th and 17th centuries. This decision made it possible to embody the golden age of the province when it still depended on the Spanish Netherlands.
