A last-minute choice of surname

Karine Le Marchand is a television host who adopted her stage name under duress. She selected the surname of her partner at the time a few minutes before the launch of her very first live show. This decision was made in 1986 under pressure from the program director of France 3 Paris Île-de-France while she was presenting Midi Pile.
