Tom Ford saved Gucci with porno chic

Tom Ford, the American designer, transformed the former leather goods manufacturer Gucci into a globally coveted ready-to-wear brand. He imposed a bold style known as porno chic with the help of Carine Roitfeld and Mario Testino. Celebrities like Madonna, Bianca Jagger and Gwyneth Paltrow appeared in these outfits, allowing the Italian fashion house to move past its near-bankruptcy of 1990.
