Clint Eastwood films were initially intended for Steven Spielberg

Several films directed by Clint Eastwood were originally intended for other Hollywood filmmakers. This is the case for example with Changeling, which was supposed to be directed by Ron Howard, or Unforgiven, a project initially entrusted to Francis Ford Coppola. In the same way, Steven Spielberg was supposed to direct A Perfect World, The Bridges of Madison County and Flags of Our Fathers.
