A secret royal wedding betrayed by the priest

The secret wedding of Alexander and Aspasía was celebrated on 17 November 1919 by Archimandrite Zacharistas. The clergyman had sworn to keep silent about this union but he went to confess it immediately after to the Archbishop-Primate of Athens Meletius III. This disobedience to the rules caused a huge scandal and Aspasía had to settle for the name of Madame Mános.
