An anti-apartheid activist was kept in solitary confinement for one year

Nozizwe Madlala-Routledge is a South African politician who was imprisoned several times for her commitment. Her fight against the apartheid regime led her to join the African National Congress and the South African Communist Party. During one of her incarcerations under the segregationist regime, she underwent a period of total isolation lasting one year.
