All dogs die during an expedition in Antarctica

Æneas Mackintosh launched the setting up of depots in Antarctica as early as January 1915 despite objections from experienced members calling for acclimatization. The expedition proved disastrous due to storms, equipment failures and poor management of loads on the ice. All the sled dogs died on the way back and the men, exhausted and suffering from frostbite, returned on March 24, 1915.
