An armored squadron was decimated for venturing too far

The 117th Reconnaissance Squadron is an American armored reconnaissance unit. It was largely destroyed on September 3, 1944, for having advanced too far behind enemy lines. The unit found itself isolated against a battalion of the 11th Panzerdivision in the commune of Montrevel.
