Adolf Hitler attempted to arrange a royal marriage

Adolf Hitler attempted to marry the young Frederika of Hanover to the Prince of Wales, the future Edward VIII. In 1934, the dictator sent Joachim von Ribbentrop to the princess's parents to promote a reconciliation with the United Kingdom through this union. Frederika's parents refused the Führer by judging the British heir too old.
