Only 25 seconds of the first Colombian fiction film remain

Maria is a silent Colombian film released in 1922 and adapted from the novel by Jorge Isaacs. Despite its historical success and the attendance records it broke at the time, the feature film has entirely disappeared from the archives. Only a single 25-second fragment and a few dozen photographs remain today.
