The Mallorquín horse breed nearly went extinct

The Mallorquín is a local horse breed that almost disappeared in the 1970s due to competition from other breeds and motorization. Faced with this critical situation, an association of breeders mobilized in 1981 to select and save the last specimens. An official register was finally opened in Madrid, setting the initial base at 33 horses in 1989.
