The Zika virus is an infectious disease caused by a flavivirus transmitted by mosquitoes of the Aedes genus. It has the particularity of being the only arbovirus for which sexual transmission has also been demonstrated. This infection caused notable epidemic waves, including one in Brazil that affected more than 1.5 million cases.
