An anonymous Gothic masterpiece

The Garden of Paradise is a painting on wood created around 1410 and kept at the Städel in Frankfurt. Many uncertainties surround this work with a format of 26.3 by 33.4 cm because of the Reformation, which banned sacred representations in the following century. Its creator remains anonymous, just like its exact patron and the precise meaning of the scene.
