A pacifist appointed Minister of Defence

Nozizwe Madlala-Routledge is a South African politician committed against apartheid. Known for her pacifist convictions, she is appointed in 1999 to the position of Deputy Minister of Defence. She subsequently distinguishes herself by fighting against AIDS and opposing President Thabo Mbeki, which causes her dismissal in August 2007.
