A rejected project for lateness built nearly a century later
Charles Rennie Mackintosh participated in 1901 in a design competition launched by a German magazine, but was excluded for submitting his plans late. His proposal nevertheless received a special mention from Hermann Muthesius, who praised its highly original exterior architecture. The building finally emerged from the ground in the early 1990s in Bellahouston Park in Glasgow, thanks to the work of Graham Roxburgh.
