Experts attempted to hide an authentic manuscript

The Ridolfi fragment is a handwritten letter by Amerigo Vespucci discovered by Roberto Ridolfi and published in 1937. When experts Alberto Magnaghi and Giuseppe Caraci announced its discovery, they declared it a forgery to conceal the fact that it contradicted their own theses. Today, historians all agree on the authenticity of this document written in the Tuscan dialect.
