A lawyer for justice against his own people

Elefthérios Venizélos is a Greek politician and lawyer. After the assassination of the bey Tevfik Bedri in the village of Loutraki, he was the only Christian lawyer to agree to represent the prosecution against two Greeks accused of the crime. Earning the lawyer accusations of treason and turcophilia from his compatriots, this case concluded with the hanging of the guilty parties on 7 January 1894.
