The Virgin of the Rocks at the Louvre left its wood

The Virgin of the Rocks is a painted work whose two versions initially featured identical rigid supports. Originally, these two wooden panels bore the compositions before technical modifications occurred. At the beginning of the 19th century, the version kept at the Louvre thus underwent a complete transposition onto canvas.
