A counter-project three times cheaper for the Millau Viaduct

The Millau Viaduct was the subject of lively debates during its design, particularly by local elected officials and environmentalists proposing an alternative. This counter-project consisted of a route further to the west, which turned out to be three kilometers longer. It offered the advantage of being three times cheaper and relying on three classic engineering structures.
