The true Battle of Roncevaux was led by Vascons

The Battle of Roncevaux is a historical clash where Roland and his horse Veillantif met their death. Charlemagne's army had previously ravaged the allied city of Pamplona after finding the gates of Zaragoza closed. The Vascons then attacked the rearguard on August 15, 778 to avenge this attack, while the troops were climbing a narrow valley.
