Harpo Marx is the origin of the 1940 film Pride and Prejudice

Harpo Marx attended a performance of the theatrical adaptation of the novel on October 28, 1935, in Philadelphia. He immediately sent a telegram to the powerful producer Irving Thalberg to recommend this work for his wife. Convinced by this enthusiasm and by a performance on Broadway, the producer bought the rights to launch the film with Norma Shearer and Clark Gable.
