Saint Martin destroyed a pagan temple on an oppidum

Between 372 and 397, Saint Martin went to the Châteliers plateau in order to destroy a pagan temple there. This episode is recorded by Sulpicius Severus in the biography he wrote about the saint. This visit demonstrates that a religious practice persisted on this ancient site.
