Red Star plays in green thanks to a 1926 merger
L'Olympique is a French multi-sports club founded in 1908 and merged several times throughout its history. During its union with the Sporting Club de Vaugirard in 1918, it had adopted a green jersey, white shorts and black socks. In May 1926, it merged in turn with the Red Star Club to give birth to the Red Star Olympique. It was following this 1926 event that the heir club definitively bequeathed its green color to its partner.
