The Pride and Prejudice series inspired Bridget Jones's Diary

Bridget Jones's Diary is a successful novel whose one of the direct sources is the 1995 Pride and Prejudice miniseries. This television adaptation left such a mark on people's minds that Helen Fielding published her book the following year, in 1996. The link was made even more obvious subsequently, since the actor Colin Firth played Mr Darcy both in the series and in the film adaptation of the novel.
