Bud Spencer owes his name to a beer and a movie star

Bud Spencer is the Anglo-Saxon pseudonym adopted by the Italian actor Carlo Pedersoli in 1967. He chose the first name Bud after his favorite brand of beer, Budweiser, and the name Spencer in tribute to his idol Spencer Tracy. Under this identity, he achieved international success by filming a series of spaghetti westerns alongside Terence Hill.
