Spider-Man was loaned to Marvel by Sony

Tom Holland plays Spider-Man thanks to an exceptional agreement between Sony and Disney, as the character initially belongs to Sony. Unlike other actors in the Marvel Cinematic Universe who often sign for six films, he thus benefits from a special status. His first film in this role was Captain America: Civil War, released in 2016.
