The existence of Homer is questioned

The Homeric question is a literary and historical debate concerning the reality of Homer and the uniqueness of the creation of the Iliad and the Odyssey. From the end of the 18th century, specialists like Friedrich August Wolf contested the fact that a single poet could have written all of these epics. Nowadays, the majority of researchers still tend to validate the global unity of these texts dated to the second half of the 8th century BC.
